The open ocean, involving ships to battle, board and kidnap, forts to raze and all manner of treasure to seek, had more than a little Sid Meier's Pirates! to it, albeit through a third-person action prism, and it was a real - aha! - sea-change from the routine roof-running and conspiracyballs of its predecessor games. A boat can't sneak or climb up a chimney, see). Last week, Ubisoft were giving away the tragically de-Steamed RTS World in Conflict, and, as we promised then, here's your nudge about this week's Festivus freebie.Īssassin's Creed IV: Black Flag is also known as 'the one with pirates', aka 'the first one without bloody Desmond', aka 'the one were they set the series right after getting it wrong with AC3', aka 'why haven't they made another one about seafaring yet?' (The latter question, I speculate, is probably something to do with boats being somewhat off-brand. That's right: an Asscreed I dig enough to voluntarily load up Uplay. In fighting terms this portion of the Creed trilogy is remarkably underweight at weigh-in.I like the boat-centric Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag so much that I just went and added it to Uplay even though I already own it Steam. In the Rockyverse it's right at the bottom there with Rocky V. The movie also takes way too long to get to the root cause of the legal incident that pulled these two guys apart as young men as well. With the time given, a nice Rocky montage with cheesy rock music or even rap music would've been an effective shoutout. But this story is unbelievable with the sudden ascent of the antagonist. It's nice to have a running time of under two hours.

The only reason this movie is a seven and not a six, is because of the screen presence and charisma of both Michael B. The boxing scenes here feel like a video game and the non-boxing scenes feel like a Lifetime movie. With no heart and no guts, it's hard to do that. He's missing, and his absence is felt, when often this movie is trying so hard to make you do just that, feel. Okay, maybe guts aren't an organ, but there are things missing in this movie.
